Tulum is the perfect beachside wedding destination here's why:

If any phrase could describe Tulum, it would be "Eco-Chic". It's definitely the ideal place for a laid-back beach wedding. Tulum is the furthest point south of the Mayan Riviera, approximately 2 hours south from the Cancun airport. It's perfectly nestled between beach and jungle.

Tulum has some of the best food around, great local shopping and lots of options for snorkeling, diving and accommodations. Resorts range from all-inclusives to small, boutique "eco-resorts" giving you more choices for your destination wedding.  Tulum also makes for a beautiful backdrop for wedding photography and would be perfect for the couple looking to kick back and enjoy a pina colada and listen to the sounds of nature. Tulum is colorful, organic, down to Earth and has some of the best beaches in the region.

Upon arrival you'll find two very different sides of Tulum, both worth exploring. There is the beach side and the colonia side, divided by a long stretch of road. On the beach side you'll find most of the hotels and resorts, and on the colonia side of Tulum you'll find great shopping, restaurants and local flair. When you stay in Tulum, you can expect to relax and take in the beautiful scenery. Do not expect strong wi-fi or even electricity at a lot of places.  Enjoy nature!

Tulum is also famous for their ruins which lie on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean sea. Part of the Tulum National Park, the ruins were built in the 13th century and are the most popular tourist destination there. What's better? After hours of sightseeing, you can cool down and relax at the beach right below!

For a daytrip try the nearby ruins of Coba and my favorite, Ek Balam. Coba is 27 miles west of Tulum and is another ancient Mayan civilization worth seeing. My favorite is Ek Balam. Near the town of Valladolid but still possible as a day trip from Tulum, this site is on a road less traveled on. Ek Balam is the historic remains of an Mayan city and pyramid containing 45 structures . There, you can avoid the crowds and take a dip in the magical cenote Xcanche. Highly recommended.

Speaking of cenotes near Tulum, while enjoying the romance of wedded bliss - don't forget to enjoy a cenote together! Cenotes are magical cave-like sink holes filled with clearest water you'll ever find. There's probably hundreds in the area to explore. A few popular ones are Gran Cenote, Cenote Dos Ojos or Casa Cenote. If you're feeling really adventurous, you can even dive them!

In conclusion, Tulum offers a little bit of everything for a beautiful destination wedding abroad from stunning beaches, architectural sites, beautiful cenotes, delicious gastronomy and more!
